SAPIE joins coalition highlighting priorities for Digital Content Directive
SAPIE, together with EDiMA, Allied for Startups, CCiA, DigitalEurope and other industry associations issued a joint statement, highlighting some of our key priorities for the Digital Content Directive.
Organisations called on policymakers to:
1. endorse the original approach of the proposal to have a full harmonisation of rules, this being the only coherent way of preventing legal fragmentation and creating a true Digital Single Market.
2. align contract rules for ‘content’ and ‘goods’ as to ensure that legislation remains future-proof in the case of goods with embedded digital content.
3. remove overlaps and contradictions with the existing European data protection rules and to clarify data aspects.
